The
National Health Policy of Indonesia aims at improving its
society's health to an optimal degree of health through
improvement of diet and hygiene and improving the availability
of health services for all strata of the society. This aim
includes oral and dental health. That the directorate of
dental health has been trying to improve the awareness of
the society towards dental hygiene and dental care.
Until
recently the highest prevalence of dental diseases were
dental decay and periodontal disease. According to the data
of the Department of health the prevalence of dental decaying
Indonesia is 70% with a Decay rate of 2.5DMFT while most
heath services are dedicated to curative services.
On
the other hand oral hygiene, prevention and health education
were neglected especially for children. Theoretically oral
and dental health can be improved though promotive and preventive
services young children.
